The Met Gala’s 5 most beautiful Indian-origin celebs

In honor of Monday’s Met Gala 2022, we’ve compiled a list of the top beauty moments generated by Indians on the red carpet in the United States.

Makeup has become a beacon of self-expression in mainstream culture over the years, in lieu of yearly themes at the Met Gala.

While fashion is the center of attention due to its boundary-pushing flair, art above the neck is just as significant in the hierarchy. Makeup and hair may make or break a look since it ties in the fabric’s hues and alters celebrities’ ensembles according to their couture choices, making it an important part of the process.

The annual Met Gala, on its own, manages to highlight some of the top makeup and hair styles in the industry in one day, with artists bringing the year’s newest trends.

Over the years, Indian-origin celebs have continued to serve their most expressive outfits–think Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ crimson velvet gown with shimmering eyes and scarlet lips, or Deepika Padukone’s Barbie gown with a loud updo. At the Met Gala, Indians like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Lilly Singh, and other celebrities made huge beauty moments.

    1. Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Chopra Jonas is proof that there’s no more extravagant makeup combo than glitter eyes and scarlet lips.

To coincide with the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme, the megastar and new mother wore a crimson velvet gown with a bejeweled hood with almost angelic gold eyes and dramatic red lipstick to the Met Gala in 2018.

When fashion and beauty come together in a creative fusion, the concept of “more is more” works wonders, as the ensemble demonstrated.

    2. DeepikaPadukone

Padukone portrayed an Indian Barbie at the Met Gala in 2019, wearing a powder pink Zac Posen gown and adding drama to her look with her colorful eye makeup and lip combination. The bold purple and pink blended makeup not only draws attention to her eyes, but also to the deep crimson colour on her lips. The voluminous half-ponytail in the gravity-defying updo is a statement in and of itself, and brilliantly reflects the subject

    3. Lilly Singh

Off-carpet Singh prefers a more understated look, but at the Met Gala in 2018 the comedian and author transformed into a floral enigma. The ombré pink and purple gown represented the overlapping of flower petals, and her makeup was moulded around it. With pink draped blush and similar eyeshadow, the look is a lesson in over the top beauty. Her waist-length black hair woven with orchids and violets was the ideal way to attract attention to the face and dress, yet exude chicness.

    4. Mindy Kaling

Kaling is a beauty expert who knows what looks well on her. Her signature carpet look is a simple, precisely blended foundation, statement eyes, and a brown lip. She donned a special navy blue gown by Tory Burch to the Met Gala in 2021, and matched the canvas of her eyes with blue and gold glitter toned tints to enhance her features. Her center-parted and highlighted hair, pulled back in a bun, makes place for her drop earrings with ease. In a single word, stunning.

    5. Natasha Poonawalla

Poonawalla is one of the few people who can carry off a strong and statement-making style in beauty or fashion. At the Met Gala in 2018, the philanthropist and businesswoman paired a Prabal Gurung colorful gown with expertly blow dried hair put in place for a voluminous look and a classic red lip to highlight her cheekbones. Poonawalla’s vivid and adventurous flair is seen in this ensemble.
