COVID Guidelines – While Travelling To Nepal

In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, the following arrangements have been taken for travel to Nepal.

    Visa-on-arrival

Visa-on-arrival has been reinstated to its pre-pandemic state, which means that holders of passports from countries that are qualified for visa-on-arrival will be allowed to use the service. If your nation is listed as requiring a visa before entering Nepal, you should apply for one before visiting (for more information, go to https://www.immigration.gov.np/).

There are also health-related considerations to observe before visiting to Nepal.

    Travelling to Nepal

You must bring the following documents with you when traveling to Nepal:

    1. A certificate indicating that you have received a full dose of COVID-19 immunization at least 14 days before to entering Nepal.

COVID-19 test report (RT-PCR, Gene Expert, True NAAT, or WHO accredited test) showing negative result done within the last 72 hours of boarding from the first airport or, if entering through land border, done within 72 hours of entry if you are not fully vaccinated or have not completed a full dose of vaccination at least 14 days prior to arriving in Nepal

Children under the age of five will be exempt from this rule.

    2. If applicable, a copy of the permit for mountaineering, trekking, or other activities requiring permission.

    3. A printed copy of the online form (International Traveler Online Arrival Form), which can be completed by visiting ccmc.gov.np.

    Embassy-issued visa

    1. If you are fully vaccinated and wish to apply for a visa at the Embassy, you may submit the following documents in addition to the standard visa paperwork:

    a. A COVID-19-immunization certificate indicating a full dose of vaccination, with the last dose taken at least 14 days before to arrival into Nepal;

    b. A copy of the permit for mountaineering, trekking, and other activities that require permission, if applicable.

    2. You must provide a valid cause for not being fully vaccinated if you are not fully vaccinated.

    Upon arrival in Nepal,

You must follow the health-related protocols prescribed by the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Health and Population, from time to time once you are in Nepal. These suggestions may change before or after you arrive in Nepal. Please keep checking the Department of Immigration’s and Covid-19 Crisis Management Center’s (CCMC) websites for updates. Please be aware that if the case warrants, the government may impose location-specific limitations.

While entering Nepal, you may be subjected to a health examination to ascertain if you have any COVID-19-related symptoms. If any of these symptoms are discovered, you must take an antigen test at the entrance point (at your own expense). If you test positive, you must proceed to an isolation center or a hospital recognized by the Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal.

(Note: The traveler is responsible for all expenses, including but not limited to hotel quarantine, hospitalization, insurance, isolation, and COVID-19 testing.)

    Please be aware:

If you experience any COVID-19-related symptoms, you must get a COVID-19 test as soon as possible and remain in isolation if the test is positive. The list of quarantine hotels can be found here: – https://mofa.gov.np/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Updated-hotel-quarantine-list-by-DOT-8june-1.pdf
