Ranveer Singh claims he ‘felt criticized’ because of his outlandish fashion sense: ‘I used to be wary about expressing myself.’

Ranveer Singh is known for his flamboyant fashion sense.Ranveer Singh has spoken out about how his flamboyant fashion sense and clothing style used to make him feel scrutinized and cagey.

In a recent Q&A session with fans, Ranveer Singh discussed his lavish and flamboyant design taste. The actor acknowledged that he felt judged because of his appearance and fashion sense at one time in his life, but that he learned to move on. He also noted that while he enjoys a wide range of colors in his clothing, he likes a minimalist aesthetic in his living area. All of this was revealed during a Twitter chat with supporters.

On Wednesday, the actor participated in a Twitter Movies Q&A organized by Twitter India. Some of the questions focused on Ranveer’s fashion sense, which has been praised for its flamboyant flair and use of color.

“Ranveer Singh has been doing Met Gala everyday for all these years,” a fan said, comparing Ranveer’s clothing sense to the colorful and elaborate costumes shown at the annual Met Gala. Ranveer responded by saying he didn’t sure what to make of it, but that he was only expressing himself via his style. “I used to be hesitant to express myself,” he explained. I had the impression that I was being judged. In response to the effects those judgments were having on me, I would change my way of being. I eventually let go of that. People are going to judge you anyhow, so dress whatever you want, and I’m delighted I’ve been able to mature into a person who does that consistently today.”

In response to a fan’s question about the ‘secret’ behind his fashion sense, the actor stated it’s just who he is, not a persona he’s attempting to build. “It’s not like I planned on dressing in a flashy manner for this persona.” It’s only me. I enjoy wearing bright colors. Bright and colorful colors appeal to me. Over time, I’ve realized that I’m more drawn to the maximalist school of thought. But when it comes to settings like a home or a vanity van, I prefer everything to be very simple, almost excruciatingly simple,” he said.

Ranveer Singh’s forthcoming film, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, is set to hit theaters on March 31. Divyang Thakkar plays a modest Gujarati man who fights his strict family to save his unborn daughter in the film. Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani, and Ratna Pathak Shah all make appearances in the film. On May 13, the film will be released.
